Getting started

From sign-up to first filing in four steps

01

Connect your Agent Services Account

Link your existing ASA once — Clients Assistant uses it to retrieve obligations and file on your behalf.

02

Add your clients

Bring clients in individually or in bulk, and group them however your practice is organised.

03

Send authorisation requests

Each client approves access digitally by email — no paper, no separate HMRC login for them.

04

File and track from one dashboard

See what's due across every client, upload linked spreadsheets, and submit in a few clicks.

Pay per client, or commit annually for less

Choose per-month pricing with no minimum, or an annual plan that gets cheaper as your client count grows.

All prices exclude VAT. Customers are charged 20% VAT on top at checkout — so £3.50 a month is £4.20 including VAT.

Features

Built for the way a practice actually files

One dashboard, every client

See each client's status at a glance — what's due, what's ready, and what's waiting on authorisation.

Keep clients on their own spreadsheets

Link the required fields with our template — no client needs to move to new accounting software.

Never miss a client's deadline

Set reminders for every key date across your book, and get alerted if a return looks incomplete.

Built-in validation before you file

Common errors get caught before submission, with downloadable HMRC receipts for your records.

Your whole team, filing

Invite colleagues by email to work on your clients' filings, each with their own login. Companies your team sets up can take your licences.

FAQs

Questions agents ask

This usually means HMRC's systems are temporarily down or there's a connection issue on our end. Try refreshing first; if it persists, contact support and we'll check your connection status.

Go to account settings and choose to reconnect your Agent Services Account, then follow the on-screen steps to complete authorisation again.

That client hasn't completed the authorisation step yet. Send them an authorisation request; once they approve it, their details and obligations appear automatically.

No — you can add as many clients as your practice needs, organise them into groups, and file for all of them from the same dashboard.

From the client management dashboard, select the client and choose to deactivate or remove them. Historical filing records are retained for audit purposes.

Yes. An admin invites each person by email from the Users page. They accept by creating an account, or by signing in with an existing Clients Assistant account. They can then prepare and file for that company's clients, and you can assign your licences to companies they set up. Each plan includes a set number of users per company; a company without a subscription has only the person who set it up.

Every login is protected by its password, and each person in your practice can add two-step sign-in for free. Turn it on under Settings > Business Setup > Sign-in Security: after your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, so someone who learns your password still can't sign in. It's optional, and you can turn it off at any time. If someone loses their phone, an admin of your practice or Clients Assistant support can reset it, and we email them whenever that happens.
